Introducing Disciple Records
A new Catholic Contemporary Music recording label from GIA Publications, Inc.
April, 03
In the spirit of GIA's commitment to serve the Church by providing the very best musical resources, we are excited to announce the creation of a new recording label, Disciple Records. The mission of Disciple Records is to respond to the growing interest within the Church to use contemporary, primarily non-liturgical music, as a tool for evangelization and encouragement. Our goal is to develop Catholic artists who are gifted in this area and to help the Church effectively utilize those gifts through recordings and live performances.
GIA is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Tom Franzak as Director of Artists and Repertoire for Disciple Records. Tom brings 25 years of experience as a performer, composer, and producer to this position.
Regarding the mission and vision of this new venture, Tom Franzak states, "This is a very exciting time for Catholic contemporary music artists. We are committed to developing and promoting composers and performers whose gifts serve the Church in ways mostly outside of the liturgical music experience. Contemporary Christian Music has been around for a while. But Catholic artists have not been a part of that scene, and American Catholics, by and large, have not been exposed to the idea of this type of musical, faith experience that you can take with you throughout the day. The possibilities are very exciting, and the gifted artists called to do this work are certainly out there."
